Nobody loves you.... What?!?!

Driving to work this morning, I passed a billboard on my left.

As I looked to try and read it. As I read the headline on the billboard, I did a double take.  (keeping in mind that I'm driving while reading, something that is important to consider if you waste your money on billboards in the first place)....

So, as I'm driving and reading, I read the headline, and the headline started with "Nobody loves you..."  Then there was a big fat red & blue logo smushed up against the right half of the headline which caused my eye to skip the second half of the headline because of the "loud" logo. 

Here is how my brain processed this (and then I'll tell you the second half of the headline).  I'm driving along, I gaze up at a billboard, and I read "Nobody loves you..." and my eye is drawn to the Giant American Family logo smushed up against the centered headline on the simple billboard.

Not exactly the brand identification you want.  Especially when it is so closely linked to the giant logo...

I literally had to turn around to go back and look at this billboard because I knew I was missing something (and I thought it would be a great blog entry). 

The FULL headline reads "Nobody loves you like family."  But if you subtract "like family" you have yourself a toxic headline.  And when you put the visual equivalent of a dancing clown next to "like family" copy, you have a good chance its going to be skipped.  Oops American Family.  Your $1500/month billboard is doing more harm than good.  You may want to take them down, or choose a different headlilne.  But, maybe not, maybe it is just my subconsicous identifying with the "nobody loves you" comment and I have deeper issues not related to their billboard...   Naaaa...  You guys love me; even though you may not admit it. :)
